Welcome to Oakland Mom2Mom!! We are here to assist you in making the momentous adjustment to motherhood.
Bringing a baby into your life can be simultaneously exhilarating and exhausting, wonderful and challenging. Having a support system in place can make a huge difference in your ability to celebrate and embrace motherhood.
We invite you to join one of our New Mom Support Groups facilitated by a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. New Mom's Groups provide many benefits to participants. Three of the primary purposes of the group are to allow you to:
Connect with a community of moms. Having a baby can be a surprisingly isolating experience. The groups allow you to meet other moms who can relate to the details of your experience, share the joys and challenges, and form friendships that can last a lifetime.
Experience support in this major life transition. New motherhood brings with it a wide range of emotions. The group will offer you support with your fears and frustrations as well as the many happy milestones. Facilitators are also available outside of the group setting should you need additional support.
Acquire information about infant development and parenting practices. Typical topics include sleep (both for you and the baby!), soothing strategies, breast/bottle feeding, choosing childcare, returning to work, co-parenting, partner dynamics, adjusting to a new identity, body image, and self-care.
First and second time moms are welcome to attend. Groups are best suited for moms with pre-crawling babies, 0-6 months.
